What’s the one thing that annoys us the most about Delhi? The insane parking hassles, that’s what! With a (severe AF) paucity of parking space, cars are mostly parked on the main roads, adding to the already bad traffic woes. BUT, we might get some relief from all that! How, you ask? Read on!

Vertical Parking Is The Way To Go | The NDMC is looking to add 16 parking lots for almost 20,000 vehicles in the area, which would help solve the parking menace in that part of the capital. Currently, there is parking space for only 31,033 vehicles. According to NDMC officials, the project will be completely by June 2021. The focus is gonna be on stack parking, which means vehicles will be parked vertically on top of one another in order to minimise land use and accommodate as many vehicles as possible. Sounds sensible!

As of now, there are two parking lots in North Delhi, in Karol Bagh and Paharganj, which can accommodate about 180 vehicles, and the NDMC plans to build 13 more multi-level parking spaces.

And after the construction of multi-level, stack and surface parking, enough space would be created in the area to accommodate about 19,642 cars, which is pretty darn cool! The civic body also said that most of the parking areas will be developed near marketplaces. There is also a plan to develop about 5 parking lots in Old Delhi areas like Fatehpuri, Jama Masjid and Yamuna Bazaar.

Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that these newbies are soon up and running!
