Bookmark

Remember we told you about how DMRC plans to go all counterless and add more token vending machines at select metro stations in the city? Well, now these guys are all set to launch smart card vending machines in the new Magenta Line metro stations. Read on!

What’s Happening? | The first smart card vending machines will pop up in 3 Magenta Line metro stations - Botanical Garden, Janakpuri West and Terminal 1 of IGI Airport. Now, you peeps won’t have to stand in endless queues to get your smart cards recharged! And here’s another benefit for y’all - the minimum recharge amount at these vending machine will be just Rs 100, half the amount that you pay right now - how cool is that?!

Apart from these 3 metro stations, one smart card vending machine has also been installed in Pink Line’s Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus Metro Station, which will be operational very soon. The Delhi Metro is planning to install more vending machines at different stations of the Pink and Magenta line soon.

Till now, DMRC has installed more than 500 token vending machines at 118 metro stations. However, this is the first time that Delhi Metro will introduce smart card vending machines in its metro stations.

Well, we’d say this a fab move by DMRC! No more sulking at queues which move at a snail’s pace. Phew!
