The interstate bus terminal AKA ISBT at Kashmere Gate is definitely the backbone of the city when it comes to travelling across cities. And, we just heard that it’s probably in for one major makeover under the state government’s Grade-A Retail And Food Spaces Scheme. Curious? Keep reading to know what’re we talking about!

Makeover Alert! | Folks, a little birdie told us that our beloved Kashmere Gate ISBT is likely to be developed into a retail and food hub soon. This redevelopment will be a part of the state government’s Grade-A Retail And Food Spaces Scheme that aims to transform the city into a focal point of experiential shopping and food while putting to use land at bus depots and terminals.

This Grade-A Retail And Food Spaces Scheme is one of the various projects announced by the Delhi government in its annual budget characterised as the Rozgar Budget for targeting the creation of 20 lakh jobs in five years. The government has set aside Rs 10 crore in 2022-23 for this project, which, as per estimate, may create around 50,000 new jobs in the coming five years. It is also said that the government initially considered Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan ISBTs for the project and both of them are also currently being redeveloped as multi-modal transport hubs and, therefore, Kashmere Gate ISBT, which already has a few shops and kiosks, may be taken up in the first phase of the scheme.

We’re really excited to hear about this piece of news. What about you?
