Janakpuri West-RK Ashram & 2 More Delhi Metro Corridors To Come Up Soon Under Phase IV!
For us Delhizens, the metro is a saviour in every sense - not only has it made travelling easy for us, but with the fully air conditioned coaches, we’re able to zoom across the city comfortably. AND, the Delhi Metro has more plans up its sleeve - read on to find out!
Three New Metro Corridors? Yayy! | If you thought that after the Magenta and Pink Lines, the Delhi Metro has run out of surprises for you, you’re wrong! In fact, they have three new corridors in the pipeline. Yep, that’s the Delhi Metro for you - always one step ahead.
The Ministry Of Finance has cleared the Janakpuri West to RK Ashram, Maujpur to Mukundpur, and Aerocity to Tughlakabad corridors which fall under Delhi Metro’s Phase IV. These 3 corridors comprise 61.66 kms of the 104 kms long Phase IV network. The three corridors have been proposed under a public-private partnership model, meaning that while the tracks will be set up by the DMRC, the coaches shall be built by private companies, via a bidding process.
And this isn’t all - the Ministry of Finance has also given its approval for metro projects in Indore, Bhopal, Kanpur, Agra and Meerut. However, these still need a final nod from the Union Cabinet. Also, places like Agra, Meerut and Kanpur will also have metro corridors coming up soon! That’s pretty great, right?
Meanwhile, the much-awaited upcoming RRTS train between Delhi and Meerut is waiting for the Delhi Government’s approval and is set to start by 2024.
We can’t wait for all this to be launched already!
