Inter-State DTC Buses Might Make A Comeback & Will Be Able To Cover 1,000 Km In One Fill
Saadi Dilli’s popular interstate bus service which was discontinued a decade ago may be reintroduced. The reason for the cancellation was the unavailability of CNG in other states. However, the interstate buses may be reintroduced that’ll have a fitted CNG cylinder which can cover a distance of 1,000 km without a refill! Sounds pretty impressive, right?
A Pollution Free Approach | DTC had bus services to states like Punjab, UP, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttrakhand which were stopped by 2010. There were hardly any CNG refuel stations in these states and it made the long-distance travel difficult. The prototype of long-distance CNG buses has already been introduced and the project will be executed by IGL.
The new buses can carry CNG cylinders of 225-275 kg and Mahindra type 4 buses have been procured by IGL. The first kind of this bus would operate between Delhi and Dehradun. According to the sources, the cost of such cylinders should be brought down in order to make them acceptable. Mahindra & Mahindra has partnered with IGL to introduce these lightweight cylinders which will also help create more storage capacity onboard.
We only hope this project is initiated at the earliest!
