If being a woman for you in this city is all about being vulnerable and a constant victim of the male gaze, then perhaps it’s time we change your perspective a little bit and make you feel proud of yourselves. Come, read on as we narrate to you the story of some of the most fearless women we came across in the city.
Fearless, Thy Name Is Woman | Did you know that the Delhi Police is the first ever police force in the entire nation to have an all-women SWAT team? This team was recently inducted into the Delhi Police by Union Minister Rajnath Singh and we’re super proud!
These ladies have trained with specialists of the field from our country and even abroad over a period of 15 months. They are trained in the Israeli Krav Maga, which is an unarmed combat style. There are a total of 36 women constables from the Northeastern states of India, like Assam, Sikkim, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. These superheroes without capes can handle everything from terror strikes to hostage crises. They are equipped with Glock 21 pistols and submachine guns.
Amidst the possibility of women fidayeens targeting the capital this Independence Day, these women commandos will be stationed at sensitive locations in the city, like Central and South Delhi & monuments like Red Fort and India Gate.
Well, we are super proud of these really able and fearless ladies who’re gonna be our city’s pride & joy. You go, girls!
