Delhi has been known for its museums since ages - be it the Rail Museum, Science Museum, Dolls Museum and more. And guys, there’s gonna be another entry on this list - the Police Museum! Read on for deets.

India’s First Police Museum In Delhi! | Delhizens, our city is gonna play host to India’s first ever police museum and our pride knows no limits right now! Depicting the history, artefacts, uniforms and gear of the central and state police forces, this iconic museum will be launched as an underground structure in the premises of the National Police Memorial in Chanakyapuri.

The museum is likely to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister or Home Minister on the 21st of October, which is Police Commemoration Day, the day on which we pay tribute to the policemen and policewomen who laid down their lives for the nation.

Some states do have their own small museums dedicated to the police force, but this is gonna be the first time that India will have a national-level permanent exhibition on police artefacts. This museum will also work as a knowledge centre for those researching the police system and its functioning.

What all can you expect in this newbie museum? Let us fill you in! Look out for some unique weapons, uniforms headgear, batons, belts, photographs, the first ever ‘mahila’ battalions, historic wireless equipment used by the police, flying squads, police medals and old copies of the Indian Police Act when you come over for a visit with your fam. You will also find a special gallery of policemen in the line of duty, decorated with medals.

Police staff will also be on-guard at the museum to take you through the place and undertake audio-visual tours - nice!

We’re really looking forward to this museum and can’t wait for the first look!
