Hello, Delhiites! You must all be aware that the country has entered another week of the national lockdown and ever since the lockdown began, services of the Indian Railways have come to a halt and here’s what is now happening.

Plying Super Soon! | Most of you can now take a sigh of relief as the Indian Railways will resume their train services from Tuesday, the 12th of May onwards. These special passenger trains will start the services with 15 pairs of trains which mean that 30 journeys including the return ones will be completed. Bookings for these special trains will begin on Monday, the 11th of May from 4 PM onwards.

These tickets can only be purchased from the official website ‘https://www.irctc.co.in/’ and the ticket prices are likely to be similar to those of Rajdhani Express. No tickets will be sold at the booking counters as they shall remain closed along with no issuance of platform tickets. However, everyone will be expected to wear a face cover and mask and there will be screening done at the railway station where only asymptomatic patients will be allowed to board the train.

Moreover, only AC coaches will be attached to the engine. According to Indian Railways, these trains will run from the New Delhi Railway Station to the following destinations - Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi.

Plus, the aim is also to start more trains after reserving 20,000 coaches as isolation wards for COVID-19 patients and running 300 Shramik special trains for the stranded migrant workers.
