The most coveted piece of Indian handloom worldwide still remains the saree. It has been adored and adorned by people from various walks of life and from the world over. International designers have taken inspiration from it and many Hollywood celebrities have walked the red carpet draped in the gorgeous nine yards of goodness!
So while the world is intrigued by its versatility, we need to touch up on our general knowledge about this gorgeous piece of fabric that has found a place in every Indian woman’s heart and their closets alike. To aid us on our quest to explore, learn (and SHOP) the beauty called the saree, Red Earth has yet again come up with their latest edition of The Saree Festival!
The fest celebrates the richness of the ‘nine yards’ in all its diverse glory. Featuring signature pieces from varied styles, be it hand-woven to digitally printed ones, over rich fabrics and in a gazillion colours! Let us give you a sneak peek into what you can look forward to in the latest Delhi edition.
Diversity @ The Artisan Saga

The Artisan Saga’s collection highlights various types of paithanis, from the parrot-peacock to floral to matka paithanis! What’s more, they showcase an excellent collection of diverse variety when it comes to patolas, kota sarees and some wonderful pieces of bandhani from master weavers - all of this in the same place.
Odisha Weaves From Pankaja
Having worked in various clusters of Odisha for a long time, she presents a very prolific collection, highlighting extremely unconventional and inventive approaches. She presents sarees inspired by the various textile vocabularies of Odisha: temple textiles (appliqué work), hand-quilting from Ganjam, contemporary Ikat and cotton weaves from Eastern Odisha - you can find ‘em all here!
The Classics From Kala Sangam

Kala Sangam is back at the festival with some stunning Banarasi sarees which they have been the pioneers at and promise some unusual styles in this classic tradition for us to explore and make our own! They are also bringing an interesting assortment of everyday sarees from ikat to applique work - they pretty much have something for everyone.
And that’s just the beginning! There’s so much more to look forward to and so many artists and designs to explore and admire at the fest. So look out for Galang Gabaan, Loom Theatre, Palash, Pratham, Resha, Slice of Bengal, Smriti Gupta - et al, and have an amazing time rediscovering the admirable Indian weaves and drapes at The Saree Festival!
