IGI Airport Is All Set To Become India's 1st Plastic-Free Airport By December 2019, Y'All
By December 2019, Delhi’s IGI Airport is gonna become the first airport in the country to be completely plastic-free *just how awesome is that?!*. With the rising concerns for the environment and the need for sustainable living, this is definitely a welcome move!
It’s Game Over For Plastics | The plastic-free project will cover all three terminals and the airside portion of the airport. India has pledged to eliminate all single-use plastic by 2022, and this move will soon be replicated by other airports, too. Currently, Delhi’s airport doesn’t allow the use of plastic grocery bags, food packaging, bottles, straws, cups and other plastic products.
All the plastic products have been replaced with paper and bio-based compostable materials. The Delhi International Airport Limited plans to ensure that only bio-friendly and smart packaging is used for food takeaways and beverages, usage of paper bags is increased and people are made aware of the changes.
We are totes rooting for this initiative. Go Delhi!
