Hopping Over From The Pizzeria To The Bar: A Food Trail Of The Junction, Hauz Khas!
Tucked away in a massive corner bang opposite the turn you usually take when headed to the up-market Hauz Khas Village lies a trendy eatery inhabited by various different hubs fabricated entirely to feed the different tastes of its many patrons - The Junction! Welcoming you with a wide swatch of perfectly manicured lawns, it then unfolds into a gorgeous, buzzing cornucopia of many moods.
The place is actually akin to a real-life junction - a converging point of various little thriving joints that cater to all our whims and fancies! There's a Pizzeria whence come our perfectly baked, wood-fired pizzas, The Big Baker, who obligingly whisks up all the baked goodies one can imagine (and several one cannot), The Bar which melds together scores of yummy cocktails and mocktails and offers up lip-smacking finger food and a little niche called Manga, catering to your ever-insatiable sushi needs - the list goes on!
Already enchanted by the trendy vibe of the place and not wanting to limit ourselves, we decided to sample a little bit of everything, thus embarking on a foodie sojourn that spanned cuisines, not to mention hubs! So without further ado, here's everything we stuck our hungry forks into at The Junction:
Parma Pizza @ The Pizzeria
Cutting straight to the juicy and satisfying core of The Junction, we pounced on the Parma Pizza! Lightly crisped, golden-brown thin crust held the base for oodles of parma cheese sizzling with masses of sliced bell peppers, juicy cherry tomatoes, sweet corn and fat black olives. Presented proudly to us on a wooden platter, it came piping hot straight from their wood-fired oven, and tasted heavenly on our hungry taste buds!
Strawberry Delight @ The Bar
So what's the best thing you can down on a scorching, blindingly hot summer afternoon? A cool, candy pink drink containing splashes of sweet strawberry syrup, that's what! Enter Strawberry Delight. A fat, rotund mocktail glass came filled to the brim with a frothy, candy-pink concoction topped with a thick, refreshing wedge of pineapple and - get this - a cutesy bright blue curly straw to sip away to glory!
Rainbow Sushi From Manga
A thick rectangular platter held masses of sushi splayed in - yep, you guessed it - a rainbow formation, complete with a tail of pickled ginger and a little smudge of wasabi shaped like a leaf! The sushi, which was deliciously fresh and sinfully appetizing BTW, contained a chunk of crabstick, salmon and tuna, enveloped by black rice. We're not the least bit ashamed to say that we pounced on this like the sushi-hungry monsters we really are *wink wink*!
Greek Salad With Lavash & Feta @ The Bar
Copious masses of snowy-white and utterly scrumptious feta cheese (our forever love) were sprinkled over a riot of veggies, including the requisite valley of iceberg lettuce, sliced capsicum, bell peppers, cucumber and onions. One plateful of this, and you'll be done with your quota of greens for the week! Plus, with feta dotting each piece of vegetable on our plates - we ate our greens with no complaints and lots of relishing!
Cheesy Hara Bhara Kebabs @ The Bar
As a nice side, we next ordered their Cheesy Hara Bhara Kebabs, which honestly sounded just divine! Nicely plump, perfectly round balls comprising spinach tossed with spices, and boasting a core of mozzarella cheese! All of this goodness was then balled up, crusted with breadcrumbs and then fried - sounds just heavenly, doesn't it?! Yeah, and it tasted even better *swag-ful smile*!
Coffee Walnut Cappuccino Pie @ The Big Baker
So they said chocolate, and then they said cappuccino - so obviously, we immediately proclaimed 'yes', and cleared some non-existent space in our tummies. A crisp tart cupping a finely whisked up pie consisting of - like we said - espresso shots, collabo chocolate and heaps of sugar (we wouldn't like to dwell too much on this), the pie is a guilty pleasure you owe yourself to indulge in guys!
Chocolate Donut @ The Big Baker
Wanting to top off our Saturday afternoon foodie binge nicely, we then ordered one of our all-time faves - the classic Chocolate Donut! Super tender and fluffy fresh bread was slathered with smooth chocolate and studded with crunchy green sprinkles - this one was an absolute winner and a personal fav of ours.
All in all, The Junction fares very well on our food-o-metre and we'd recommend you head there with a bunch of your friends, down some yummy drinks and wallow in the delish flavours of their multi-cuisine grub! Swing by next weekend y'all?!
