Delhi government recently announced that the commercial markets are now allowed to open on an odd-even basis while strictly following the social distancing norms, but Chandni Chowk, one of busiest markets in Delhi, will remain shut till the 31st of May and here’s more info on it.
For The Safety Of People | Chandni Chowk is a crowded market that’s flocked by thousands of people each day where social distancing cannot be followed because of the proximity of the shops. As a high number of cases are reported in Delhi, Chandni Chowk will be closed for the safety and security of the traders, workers and the general public as decided by the trader’s association.
This market built in the Mughal era is also one of the biggest textile and cloth markets in the city, one of the many reasons why this market is bustling throughout the day. Chandni Chowk also lies in the proximity of several containment zones like the Nabi Karam, Sadar Bazaar, Ballimaran and Chandni Mahal, making it impossible for the authorities to open the shops.
Given how crowded this market usually is, the decision to wait before opening is absolutely right, don’t you think guys?
