Here's Why 5,146 People Were Detained & 1,018 Vehicles Seized In Delhi On Tuesday
The lockdown in the capital has been stringently imposed, but the number of people who defied the lockdown is quite high. About 5,146 people were detained and 299 cases were registered against them. Here’s more on this.
Avoid Stepping Out | On Tuesday, people were detained and the police filed FIRs against them for not following the prohibitory orders of the lockdown. With this, 1,018 vehicles were seized under the Delhi Police Act. However, this enforcement is only going to get more stricter as the PM had announced a 21-day lockdown across India. The cops have been ordered to detain people and seize the vehicles that are not only plying on the main roads, but inside the colonies as well. Also, the police had received a lot of complaints from South and South-West Delhi about people speeding on the empty roads, so they conducted speed and dangerous driving checks as well. The violators were stopped and detained at check posts.
In West Delhi, some shopkeepers were also detained for selling non-essential items. Crossing the Delhi NCR borders will now require curfew passes, so Delhi Police set up a single window at the designated offices of police deputy commissioners. By Tuesday evening, 2,319 curfew passes were issued and all the info regarding the curfew passes were cleared at the DCP’s office.
Folks, stay indoors!
