A ‘Cow Cess’ On Liquor | Haryana government has announced a new  ‘cow cess’ policy on liquor. A Rs 5 cow cess will be imposed for every liquor, which means the revenues generated from the cow cess will be used for the welfare of cows. A certain amount of the percentage imposed on the liquor will be used for making shelters for the cattle. The officials are aiming to generate a fund of Rs 400 crore for the same.

With the onset of the cow shelters, the objective is to reduce the number of stray cows on the road. The shelters will provide medical facilities and caretakers for the cows, solar energy panes and biogas to produce natural paint from their cow dung. They are also planning on developing opportunities for women as they will be engaging in creating vermicompost and natural paints.
