With a craving for Mumbaiya street food, we went out on a quest to find the finest among all, when we finally bumped into this astounding place going by the name of Bombay Blast. This place nestled is the main market of Ashok Vihar, Phase II and its vibrant lighting and eye catchy entrance lured us straight in.

The interiors are subtle with a serene blend of white and blue colours and wooden furniture complementing the ambience to the core. Out of the scores of options available, here’s the top 5 faves we sampled!

1. Chipotle Spiral Fries

We couldn’t control our excitement to find tornado fries aka Spiral Fries on the menu and ended up ordering these chipotle flavoured ones. Super crunchy fries were presented to us in an elongated box where the fries were skewered on a long stick and sprinkled with different masalas and finally garnished with chipotle-flavoured mayo. We happily gobbled these up and recommend you do the same!

2. Cheese Pav Bhaji

This item being the highlight of the evening comprised a thick gravy carrying an essence of ginger and garlic and was garnished with butter and coriander before being served with two portions of masala pavs and diced onions.

Both the texture and flavour of the bhaji was on point and the pavs were also pan fried nicely in a unique blend of spices and possessed a slight crisp on the outside yet remaining deliciously soft on the inside, making this item worth splurging on.

Being a thoroughly hatke dish, we couldn’t resist ordering their Black Mojito which was an amazing blend of sugar syrup, lime juice, ginger ale, mint leaves and diced lemons infused with a cola flavour and anardana masala, giving the drink its requisite colour and flavour. A thoroughly refreshing drink, this one!

4. Sev Puri

Small biscuits (mathri) made of white flour were topped with finely cut onions, boiled and cubed potatoes, mint chutney, date chutney, puffed rice and fine sev before being garnished with roasted chana dal, pomegranate pellets and coriander.

Their Sev Puri indeed was an apt blend of sweet and spicy flavours owing to the varied chutneys used. We loved how the mathri remained crispy till the end and did not turn soggy, maintaining the essence of the dish as a whole.
