From Creamy Dal Makhni To Pita Pockets, We Sampled 7 Delish Things @ Vapour Bar Exchange

In a quest to quench our thirst for beer, we found ourselves at the entrance of a brewery offering about 8 different varieties of beers from dark stout to classical Indian pale ale and the popular Belgian wheat beers in Gurgaon - the Vapour & Exchange Bar. This most pocket friendly bar has a pretty cool concept for party lovers in town where prices of drinks keep changing in response to the demand. 

The drinks are dynamically priced and when the prices escalate to a higher value, then the market crashes to a certain low, ensuring maximum engagement of all the patrons! Still in awe of this concept and in love with the vibe of the place, we gobbled up the following:

1. Hummus & Pita Pockets

Nicely fried falafel tikka on a bed of red cabbage along with diced pickled onions and mayo formed the filling of these heavenly pita pockets which were then grilled slightly, forming a nice crisp on the outside. 

The crispy falafel tikkis were high on spices compensating for the blandness of the pita bread. Served with hummus and a portion of salad, this was the best start to our meal!

2. Hyderabadi Chicken Tikka

Stupefied by the presentation, we were presented with enormous and luscious pieces of succulent chicken, evenly marinated in a unique blend of spices, baked in the tandoor with perfection ensuring the essence of spices was absorbed by the chicken in its entirety. 

The chicken was tender, juicy and served with mint chutney and pickled onions on a wooden dish. With kasturi methi being the dominant flavour, we could easily feel the soul of Hyderabad in this one!

3. Palak Patta Chaat

Large spinach leaves dipped in a batter of chickpea flour was deep fried before forming a bed for hung curd, mint chutney, tamarind chutney and crispy sev. Garnished with coriander leaves and pomegranate pellets, this dish served as the perfect starter with a sweet and sour flavour staying on the palate for long. 

Despite being deep fried, the leaves hardly left any traces of oil and had a spicy taste owing to the zesty red chilies that were liberally used. Light on the tummy and high on taste, we loved this one!

4. Thai Curry Fish

This item was the highlight of the evening owing to an unmatched balance of sweet, spicy, sour and salty flavours, where the fish was deep fried and sautéed well in spices along with diced onions, capsicums and red and yellow bell peppers. 

A light crisp on the outside, perfect mushiness on the inside and garnished with basil leaves, the fish was immersed in quintessential Thai flavours and served along with a portion of salad, making us drool!

5. Dal Makhani & Chur Chur Naan

We loved this concept of offering such mouth-watering combos where a portion of Dal Makhni was served along with a sizeable chur-chur naan with pan-fried potatoes and pickled onions as sides, making this dish yummilicious!

6. Butter Chicken Combo

Non-veg lovers need not fret as they had this BC combo where luscious butter chicken was served along with toothsome butter naan AND a portion of dal makhani. The Butter Chicken had a lovely texture plus a perfect balance of sweetness and sourness in the gravy. Nicely done, Vapour!

7. Mud Cake & Ice-Cream

Nothing blends better than a piece of gooey hot chocolate cake with cold vanilla ice-cream and that’s exactly what we ordered here! The Mud Cake was soft, mushy and had thick layers of dark chocolate with a sweetened cherry on top, served with two scoops of vanilla ice-cream and garnished with chocolate syrup. Needless to say, we indeed had a happy ending!

All in all, the place ensures no one leaves without a smile on their face (or sober!). With drinks at dirt cheap prices, a vibrant environment and scrumptious food, come by here with family or friends or with bae for a smashing fun time!
