Bookmark

In a day and age where we often complain that people lack compassion with numerous instances of violence and hatred, there’s a good Samaritan in South Delhi, who’s doing his bit to provide fresh and cool water to the underprivileged. Yep, he is making sure that no one goes thirsty during the course of this summer and here’s how!

For The Love Of Humanity | While driving through South Delhi, you will often matkas (earthen pots) under a shade of a tree or beside a park. Have you wondered who put those there? Are they ever refilled? Well, Matka-Man is making sure that everyone in his neighbourhood of South Delhi has access to clean drinking water as he’s placed numerous matkas at 15 spots all over which he keeps refilling. He has also provided his number on which people can reach out when the earthen pot is empty and he will refill it ASAP!

He maintains this with the help of his van which is fitted with an 800-litre tank, a pump and generator to power it. This noble soul replenishes the pots daily and takes up to 4 rounds every day during the summer to ensure that they don’t run dry!

But that’s not all, he also serves Morning Meal which is basically your Masala Omelette and Bread to security guards, domestic staff, labourers, cyclists, local office workers and school children who often leave homes on an empty stomach. He offers this meal to women and children for FREE, while charges subsidised rates to others.

Moreover, he provides backpacks, tiffins and even water bottles at wholesale rate, distributes glow-in-the-dark stickers, fixes over 100 air-pumps near stands or elsewhere and even distributes 40-50 kilos of fresh fruits & vegetables when he goes out to refill the matkas.

This man is surely restoring our faith in humanity and has definitely set an example for all us to learn from. Let’s do our bit to bring a tiny change to society as well!
