‘Tis the season of admissions and we just heard about a change in the admission criteria for undergraduate courses at Delhi University. So if you’re someone who’s waiting to get admitted or know someone who wishes to seek admission, then you might be interested in what we’ve got to tell ya!
Maths Not A Part Of Best Of Four? | DU recently changed the admission criteria for Bachelors of Arts (BA) and Bachelors Of Commerce (B.Com). In a recent notification, they removed the inclusion of Mathematics as a compulsory subject in the best of four subjects (BFS) for admissions.
According to the previous announcement of 2019-20, it was made compulsory to include Maths in the BFS while till last year if a student scored 45% in Maths (criteria of 2018-19), only then could they apply for BA (Hons.) Economics. This year, this criteria had been changed a little by making it compulsory for the students to score at least 50% in Mathematics/Business Mathematics and an average of 60%.
People raised petitions against the new notification, as they stated that the changes for admission rules for B.Com (Hons) and BA (Hons.) in Economics had been made without any prior notice, which basically violates Article 14 of the Constitution.
What do you guys think about this move?
