Delhi Metro is every Delhiite’s bestie, not only because it has made travelling very easy for us but has also brought about some excellent technological advancements. And speaking of high-tech, here’s how Delhi Metro has once again proved that it is indeed futuristic!

Say Hello To Driverless Metros! | We will soon see driverless metros taking over very soon on some of Delhi Metro’s Phase III stretches! Yes, you heard us right! The proposed extension of the metro between Noida Electronic City - Sahibabad and Vaishali - Mohan Nagar sections will operate driverless! Isn’t that the coolest thing ever?

The Vaishali - Mohan Nagar extension is part of the existing Anand Vihar - Vaishali route, which has five metro stations, namely Vaishali, Prahlad Garhi, Vasundhara Sector 14, Sahibabad and Mohan Nagar. The Noida Electronic City - Sahibabad extension will have elevated stations, four of which will be in Ghaziabad -  Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, Shakti Khand and Sector 5 of Vasundhara. This extension will greatly benefit commuters from Ghaziabad, Indirapuram and other commuters who’re bound for Noida.

Both these corridors will meet at Sahibabad Metro Station, which will become the interchange point for those heading to Mohan Nagar from Noida and for those bound towards Rithala via Dilshad Garden using the Red Line.

The DMRC has said in its report that the driverless metros will be monitored by the automated control room. The supervision and projection system of the trains will also be computerised. We may also find electronic ticketing systems for these newbie corridors!

This news has got us REALLY excited now and we can’t wait to travel on the driverless metros! Way to go, Delhi Metro!
