This Is A Representtaive Image
Standing in a queue to recharge your Metro card can be quite a hassle. Especially on days when you’re running late. But very soon this might change for the better and here are all the juicy deets about the upcoming development!
A New Development? | It’s expected that by next year we Delhiites will be able to use a debit/credit card to travel by the Delhi Metro. Yep, DMRC is planning to upgrade the current software for Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system according to the one that will be used on the upcoming Phase IV network. As of now, metro systems in Kochi and Nagpur have this facility available for the cards issued by a particular bank. But DMRC plans to accept this from all banks through Rupay cards.
Plus, penalty deduction will also be possible through the cards. This process of upgrading the system will soon commence and might take a year-and-a-half to finish. Did you know there are 2,700 AFC gates on the entire network? Yep, and old machines are also being updated to reduce snags. The Airport Express Line will get this upgrade first!
Sounds like travelling might get tad bit easier, doesn’t it? What do you think about this move?!
