With the rising number of new infections in the city, people are anxious about the next plan of action and how the government will tackle this situation. And we just got wind about a new strategy and here’s all the info!

Testing Times | According to a new alternative plan, they will screen all residents in the city by Monday, the 6th of July to check the spread of Coronavirus. So a team of local-level medical officers or ASHA workers will ask citizens if they’ve been running a fever or if they have any other symptoms. Moreover, all houses in containment zones will be tested by the 30th of June. As of June 24th, there are 261 containment zones which include neighbourhoods that have been severely affected by the outbreak. There will be strict monitoring on the district level and COVID-19 tasks force will now have a District Commissioner of Police, civic body officials, epidemiologists from the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi), and IT professionals to monitor the Aarogya Setu App.

Plus, everyone will have to download this contact tracing app, especially those living in the worse hit areas and movement will be restricted and monitored via CCTV cameras. Rapid Antigen Testing (approved by the ICMR) will be done in these regions and all symptomatic & asymptomatic cases will be tested on the 5th and 10th day. 20,000 samples will be collected from 27th June onwards as a part of Sero Survey to check the spread of the virus and the results will be released on the 10th of July.

We can’t help but hope that the spread of the virus is contained soon. Till then adhere to all the social distancing rules, wear your masks and step out only when it’s absolutely necessary. Stay home and stay safe!
