Delhi's New Liqour Policy Allows Bars To Be Open Till 3 AM, Takeaway Of Draught Beer & More!
It was not long ago when the government announced that they’ll be releasing a new liquor policy and all of us had been waiting with bated breath for some sort of easement of the rules. Well, the wait is over folks, and the new Excise Policy 2021-2022 has been made public on Monday. Here’s everything you’ve been dying to know!
A 3 AM Affair | The new excise policy was made public on Monday and there were several reforms that were mentioned in it which are a direct result of trying to improve and boost the city’s revenue and also crackdown on the liquor mafia.
To our disappointment, there wasn’t any mention of home delivery of liquor which is part of Excise Rules and the legal drinking age that was proposed to be reduced from 25 years to 21 years to be consistent with neighbouring cities. Anyway, we did get reforms that we’re really looking forward to.
Every liquor outlet will let the customer have a walk-in experience and the stores will be air-conditioned. Delhiites will also be able to fill their bottles AKA growlers with freshly brewed beer from any microbrewery in the city. The policy allows microbreweries to supply draught beer to bars and we’re for sure excited for it. What’s more, the bars in hotels, restaurants, and clubs have been allowed to operate till 3 AM, except those licensees who have been given a license to operate round-the-clock service of liquor.
We’re really excited to see the implementation of all these reforms. What are your thoughts on the new Excise Policy?
