The Samyukta Kisan Morcha and various other farmers' unions and associations have recently announced the 'Delhi Chalo' march to stage a protest outside the Parliament and advocate for their demands. As a precautionary measure, the Delhi Police has implemented Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code at the Ghazipur border, ahead of the farmers' march towards the national capital on February 13.
Dilli Chalo March! | According to an order issued by the Delhi Police, "Information has been received that some farmer organisations have called on their supporters to gather and march to Delhi on February 13th, to voice their demands regarding the law on Minimum Support Price (MSP) and other related issues. They are expected to sit at the Delhi border until their demands are met. To prevent any untoward incidents and maintain law and order, it is necessary to issue a precautionary order under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973, to safeguard lives and property in the area." Unless withdrawn earlier, the order will remain in effect until March 12, 2024.
The Delhi Police has prohibited gatherings of five or more individuals, with or without weapons, throughout the jurisdiction of the national capital. Additionally, the latest order prohibits blocking roads, passages, and processions by the farmers in Delhi. Restrictions have also been imposed on the entry of tractor trolleys, trucks, or any other vehicles transporting individuals or materials such as sticks, guns, swords, and firearms into the city, as stated in the Delhi Police's recent order.
Prior to the Farmer's Protest, the Delhi Police directed rigorous inspection of all vehicular traffic originating from the borders of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and heading towards Delhi. Furthermore, the use of amplifiers in private vehicles, public buildings, or public spaces has been prohibited by the Delhi Police, considering the ongoing protest by farmers.
