Delhi Metro Stations Now Going Cashless Too From The 1st Of Jan!
With the government aiming at promoting digital cash transactions everywhere, a decision has been taken to make 10 of Delhi’s metro stations cashless! Yes across these outlets you’ll have to use smart cards or digital wallets i.e. only Paytm for now.
Starting January 1st, commuters travelling from these stations - Rohini East and Rohini West on Red Line; MG Road Station on Yellow Line; Mayur Vihar Phase-I, Nirman Vihar, Tilak Nagar, Janakpuri West, and Noida Sector-15 on Blue Line; and Nehru Place and Kailash Colony on Violet Line are the ones who will be affected.
** P.S. : Did you know? You can now download the So Delhi App for iOS & Android. Click Here **
Legal tender would be allowed at select ticket counters at these stations so be prepared for long queues guys!
The locals are yet to come to terms with the whole demonetization issue that’s taken place, little did we know that digital wallets will take over the country too! As good as this scheme sounds, what about the people who aren’t using smartphones but need to travel by the metro?! Are they supposed to waste time standing in the legal tender queue for a token?
If this spreads to all other stations as well we hope that the process is handled efficiently and smoothly! Let's wait and watch.
