Delhi Metro Operations MAY Come To A Halt From Saturday Onwards & Here's Why
Delhizens, if you were planning an outing this weekend and were looking to travel by metro, then here’s a word of caution for all of you. Read on!
Delhi Metro May Come To A Halt | Yep, metro operations may grind to a halt from this Saturday onwards guys! The reason? Well, 9,000 non-executive employees of the DMRC, which includes operations staff, technicians, station controllers, train operators and more, have threatened to go on strike. These guys have been protesting since 19th June for a revision of salaries and the right to form unions.
The non-executive staff is literally the life of Delhi Metro, in the absence of whom, the services of the metro will come to a standstill. And that is scary! These people are also demanding payment of arrears and fixed guidelines for termination of employment. They claim that no consistency is maintained during upgradation of scales for employees.
Yes, life without the Delhi Metro is kinda scary and we’d suggest you make alternate transport arrangements in case you have somewhere to go over the weekend!
