Delhi Govt's 'Red Light On, Gaadi Off' Campaign Kicks Off From Today!

Delhi’s pollution levels have reached alarming levels and in a bid to reduce the growing air pollution, the Delhi government had some time last year introduced the ‘Red Light On, Gaadi Off’ campaign, phase 1 of which will start from today, i.e. 18th October! Read on!

Red Light On, Gaadi Off | This campaign was conceived with the motivation to reduce the growing air pollution, especially from running vehicles and the engine exhaust in the national capital. The campaign tells the commuters to switch off their engines as soon as they stop at a red light. The environment minister, Gopal Rai further stated that the campaign will take place in 2 shifts, from 8 AM - 2 PM and then from 2 PM to 8 AM.

The Red Light On, Gaadi Off campaign starts its phase 1 this year from today, which will last for a month, till 18th November and it is to be carried out at 100 traffic intersections, that are spread across 13 police districts. The campaign is also a way to urge commuters to take public transportations like metro and bus more often than their own vehicles.
