Delhi Govt. Announces Free WiFi With 15 GB Data Per Month For Everyone From December

So, Delhiites, we just heard that the Delhi Government will soon be launching free WiFi for everyone in the city this December and we’re here divulging all the exciting deets you will need!

Internet On-The-Go! | According to the announcement made by the Delhi Government, they’ll soon be launching the free WiFi scheme on December 16 wherein everyone will get 15 GB of FREE data per month. The first phase of this scheme will witness setting up of 11,000 hotspots in the city, out of which 100 of these will be inaugurated during the start of the scheme.

Every user will be allowed 15 GB of free data per month or 1.5 GB per day and the average speed of the internet will be 100 Mbps to 150 Mbps with the maximum speed being upto 200 Mbps in some areas. After the installation of the initial 100 hotspots, the plan is to set up 500 more every week - nice. Did you know that each hotspot will provide internet within 100 metres of its radius? Yep.

4,000 of these will be set up at several bus stops and 7,000 will be located in the markets. The initial 100 hotspots will be affixed at ITO bus stand, Mandi House bus stand, Delhi Secretariat, Indraprastha Metro station and Adarsh Nagar (18), Badali (19), Moti Nagar (10), ISBT, Kashmere Gate Metro station, Seemapuri (16) and Shahdara (18) Assembly constituencies.
