With all the recent developments happening in the country, an alert has been declared at the Delhi Airport and here’s everything that you need to know about it.

For Safe Travels | Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL) posted on Twitter on Wednesday, the 7th of August that the security on the Airport has been raised. The tweet basically urged for the domestic flyers to reach the airport 3 hours early while people flying international have been asked to get to the airport at least 4 hours in advance.

This announcement comes as a result of the recent developments in Jammu and Kashmir and the Independence Day celebrations. The reason for this alert is that it may take travellers longer to reach the airport because the security agencies will be thoroughly inspecting all the approaching cars towards the airport, plus the frisking will much more stringent as well, thereby taking longer. Hence, the buffer time to reach the airport has been increased.

Generally, the flyers would be advised to reach 1 hour in advance in case of domestic flights and 2 hours prior if boarding an international one. Moreover, additional security personnel of 3,000 from the Delhi Police have been deployed at railway stations, airport, metro stations, bus terminals, markets, shopping malls and important government building. Though the security has been tightened, the flyers have been requested to not panic!
