One of our most historic monuments has been handed over to a private company for maintenance purposes, you guys!

The How, What & Why | A private company called Dalmia Bharat Limited has bagged the contract for maintenance of the Red Fort for Rs 25 crores. The company signed an MoU with the Ministry of Tourism and Archaeological Survey of India for two iconic monuments - Red Fort and Gandikota Fort.

The company has plans to complete the night illumination of the Red Fort before it’s temporarily handed over to the government for PM Modi’s speech on Independence Day. Basically, we’ll get to see Red Fort flooded with light. Perfect!

Under the government’s recent scheme called ‘Adopt a Heritage’, more than 90 monuments are up for ‘adoption’. The idea is to promote public-private partnership for conservation and maintenance of heritage sites. Well, that’s a great initiative!

Now we’re looking forward to seeing a completely revamped Red Fort, beautifully illuminated and standing out!
