The 6 to 8 feet tall sculptures will be made by renowned artisans and installed in collaboration with Sahitya Kala Parishad. The NDMC Vice-Chairman, Satish Upadhyay stated that the aim is to create a ‘Sculpture Camp’ in the NDMC Area and about 12 black marble stone structures will be carved out by 12 different sculpture artisans which will then be displayed at different locations in the city.
He also said that the artisans will produce their sculptures on rich Indian culture & heritage and various subjects of walks of life to portray 75 years of growing and developing India and the celebrated history of its people and achievements. The location hunting is to be done by the NDMC after which it will have to submit the list to Sahitya Kala Parishad to install these sculptures. Cranes, tools and other facilities are also to be provided by the NDMC.
Aside from upgrading the aesthetic look of the city, it will also give a fair chance to the artisans to showcase their fundamental talent and abilities. Also, it will be a fresh and new experience for individuals visiting the New Delhi Area.
