Taking into account the impending 3rd COVID-19 wave, the Delhi government has announced a Rs 139-crore budget for digitising the healthcare sector and also plans to add around 7,000 new hospital beds in preparation. Here’s all you need to know!
Digitising Healthcare Sector | The Delhi cabinet has already approved the budget and funds have been set aside for this digitisation which will enable hospital-patient interaction in the city via cloud-based integrated management and digital health cards. They also plan to add 6,836 new hospital beds in the government hospitals, adding to the 10,000 that already exist.
These beds are said to be ready within 6 months and take the current bed availability in the hospitals up by 70%. Whereas, the Rs 139-crore budget will also focus on setting up the digital ‘health information management system’, wherein all the Delhi hospitals will be connected on a common platform in this system.
That portal will help inform the masses about the bed & medicine availability in the hospitals. The portal will also help inform staff position, medical position, number of ventilators that are vacant. So you will no longer need to form queues in the hospital, as all you’ll need to do is fix an appointment on the system or via call. Citizens will be connected on the portal by their individual ‘e-Health Cards’ and will also provide help in case of emergency!
What are your thoughts on this digitisation of healthcare in the city?
