Hola Delhizens! Planning to get a driving license soon? Well, here’s a fair warning - procuring a license is gonna get tougher from January 2019. So, you better gear up for difficult driving tests, fellas. Read on as we tell you what’s up!

Here’s What’s Happening | In a bid to increase road safety in the capital, the Transport Department has planned to introduce more stringent driving tests for people applying for a permanent driving license. So you better hone your driving skills before going for the test, okay?

Remember we’d told you about Sheikh Sarai getting the first automated test track in the city, which became operational back in February 2018? So from January next year, all driving tests in Delhi will take place on similar automated tracks that are set to be ready by the end of 2018.

Unlike the conventional driving tests where drivers had to drive on a straight road full of traffic, these automated tracks will stimulate harsher driving conditions where all the abilities of the driver will be put to test. The entire process will be live streamed in a control room through CCTV cameras, where the marking and evaluation will be done automatically by a software.

Did you know that around 50 out of 120 people who appeared for the driving test at Sheikh Sarai’s automated track failed to get their licenses?! Yep, it’s THAT tough!

So, this new test, tracks for which will be built all around Delhi, will include reversing a vehicle, driving on hairpin bends, parallel parking, manoeuvring the vehicle through an 8-shaped track and more. Hmm, sounds like a tough cookie!

So, apart from Sheikh Sarai, this automated track will be developed at 11 other locations like Hauz Khas, Burari, Jharoda Kalan, Raja Garden, Loni Border, Surajmal Vihar, Pratap Nagar, Dwarka, Shakur Basti and more.

So, all the best for your driving test, guys. We hope you all make it!
