Y’all adore K-drama and Korean cuisine, but have you ever had the most regional northeastern cuisine in our own country? Our familiarity with Northeastern cuisine is restricted to momos, which may be found in a ‘not so authentic’ form in Delhi's streets and bylanes. But, to our surprise, the capital is teeming with some of the greatest eateries providing traditional Northeastern cuisine from our very own seven sisters states. Listed below are some of the less popular ones but really great eateries that you’ll be compelled to come back to over and over again, so read on!

1. Bamboo Hut

This is a cloud kitchen from the busy streets of Vasant Kunj providing you with the best Naga dishes. Their original Naga Thali, which comes in a variety of flavours such as The Sema Thali, The Ao Thali, and The Lotha Thali, is a must-try for anybody looking to get a complete taste of the Northeastern state. LAE Kitchen is our favourite in Dilli Haat, with its goal of integrating diverse cultures via scrumptious original cuisines, and offers a wide range of north eastern delicacies, especially Manipuri. They do offer standard Chinese food like chilli chicken and noodles, but for a change, let's try some delectable Manipuri meals like Yen Thongba (Chicken Curry), Chicken Air Fried, Iromba, and others. Their large bamboo seating begs for bamboo shoot specialities like Fish Curry With Bamboo Shoot, which is unquestionably worth trying.

This eatery in Safdarjung provides Nepali and Assamese food that isn't widely found in the city. It's a hidden gem with diverse cuisine and a nice casual atmosphere. Without a doubt, pay a visit to this location and savour some of the greatest Tibetan, Assamese, and Nepalese native foods such as Wai Wai Sadeko, Chicken Choila, and yes, Chaang, the traditional Nepalese wheat beer. Just hearing the names has piqued our interest, and we'll be trying these out ASAP.

4. Oh! Assam

As the term suggests, this location speaks Assam. And you should definitely be here if you want to be transported to the state itself. The food is excellent, even though the atmosphere is generally simple. The Aloo Pitika, Assamese Style Duck Curry, and Smoked Pork Thali are just a few of the delicacies that make us swoon over this modest restaurant. Conclude your meal with a cup of Assamese tea, which brings the whole experience to a close.

This little eatery guarantees you all the food from Ladakh and Tibet, as well as a Tibetan feel, courtesy of its name - Ladakhi Kitchen. There are a variety of exquisite momos and thukpa to choose from, along with wheat Yarkandi Momos, Lamb Bhutun, and Tingmo - the Tibetan bread. Open-air ambience with some good traditional food prepared by skilled cooks using quality produce on a platter - what more can we ask for!
