For once and all, let’s agree to the fact that the only reason we love winters in Delhi so much is because of all the yummy, hot, desi, sugary goodies we get to gobble up in this season. We mean, the garam garam gulab jamuns and jalebis, the soft and juicy rasmalai and the mouth-watering moong dal halwa are all we dream of devouring while being cosily cocooned in our quilts. But the one dessert that’s almost synonymous with Dilli ki Sardi is the glorious gajar ka halwa!

No winter season is ever complete without hogging on this seasonal delicacy that can make us weak in our knees. So, since winter is finally here, our favourite dessert has also made a comeback and we decided to make a list of our fave places in Delhi that make the BEST gajar ka halwa, read up!

So it comes as no surprise that you’ll find this place forever packed with people. They have the best besan ke ladoos but trust us, their Gajar Ka Halwa is next level. Located right in the heart of Old Delhi, this age-old Sindhi sweet house is a halwa paradise, Famous for their Karachi Halwa, these guys are so much more than that. The shop is laden with everything from Pista Barfi to Milk Cake to Kaju Loj but you HAVE to sample their Gajar Ka Halwa - it comes studded with dry-fruits and khoya (heart eyes) and is just simply yum!

3. Shyam Sweets 

Besides serving the best Aloo Ki Sabzi and Matar Kachori in the city, these guys have been serving the most ah-mazing Gajar Ka Halwa for decades now. Made on a low flame with lots of desi ghee and dry fruits, this halwa will lead you to another level of gastronomic gratification, no exaggerations here!

But these guys also boast of having the most delicious Gajar Ka Halwa that’ll make your mouths water with all the khoya, nuts and cardamoms you’ll get to savour with every mouthful. Cooked slowly over 8 hours in pure desi ghee, the halwa here is perfect with the right amount of sugar and loaded with dry fruits, so put this on your foodie bucket-list!
