This is exactly why, long after we leave our student lives behind, high school dramas still remain our fave (or guilty pleasures). 1. Never Have I Ever 

Watching Indian-American Devi toiling through an American high school and dealing with the death of her dad became our fave high school series as soon as it was released. It had all the elements of entertainment that we have grown to like- a love triangle, a LOT of drama, and also heartfelt moments & friendships, not to forget their absolutely winning soundtrack. Never Have I Ever is extra, yet relatable, and we cannot get enough of it!

2. Ginny & Georgia 

Ginny & Georgia is a show not just about high school. It has a lot of different layers and storylines, revolving around Georgia & her 2 children, Ginny & Austin, who move to a new town for a fresh start. It’s chaotic & full of drama- which is what makes it so likeable and well, popular. Be warned though, it does have a lot of dirty & dark secrets, making it not as light and breezy as the other high school shows, but it is also fun & entertaining, and has hilarious as well as romantic moments! 3. Julie And The Phantoms

Considering the fact that Julie And The Phantoms is a story about a music band of ghosts, it might not be very close to real life. Yet, the show is heartfelt, funny, and emotionally honest, and the main character Julie is pretty relatable. The phantoms are lovable too, and the foot-tapping music is also heart winning. All in all, Julie & The Phantoms is a show you cannot miss, for, at the heart of it all it’s about love & friendship.

With raging hormones and puberty knocking at your doors, high-schoolers are quite obsessed with, ahem, ‘sex education.’ Anyway, Sex Education in a completely quirky and super fun way challenges the inadequate sex education that students get. But it is MUCH more than just that. It is a perfect slice of life show that people of all ages seem to love, mostly because it gets it. The characters are totes adorable and relatable, be it Otis or Maeve or Eric, and which is why you’re seriously missing out if you haven’t watched this one!

One of the older classics released in the 2000s, Gilmore Girls is probably the big bro of all the other shows in this list! Especially Ginny & Georgia, ‘cuz the premise of Gilmore Girls is sorta similar, for it is about a fierce & independent single mom Lorelei raising a gifted daughter Rory. The show has received immense love and is known to be one of the best teen dramedies ever made- time to check it out yourself?

6. Atypical 

Atypical is a show about 18-year-old Sam on the Autism Spectrum, and his endeavours as he decides to get a girlfriend and become more independent. The characters on the show like his sister Casey, his mom & dad, and his fellow high schoolers, are real and flawed. The teens don’t look like they’re Met gala ready and will burst into a dance at all times, they dress up and act like real teens, and are the right amount of awkward, heartfelt, funny, and more. So go ahead and get your binge on!

On My Block is about 4 childhood friends from a rough LA neighbourhood, who enter high school. The series then follows the story of these smart, funny, and streetwise teens as their lifelong friendship sees ups and downs.
