Remember this smart and green expressway that we told you about earlier, which is gonna play a star role in decongesting the capital? Well, you Delhiites will be happy to know that the Eastern Peripheral Expressway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday and is now open for all of us!
Why Should You Care? | In addition to being an eco-friendly highway, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway is truly relief for all us Delhizens! Why? Because we’ve FINALLY got a bypass road after a decade’s wait, to re-route all the heavy vehicles that throng the city, causing traffic jams and pollution.
Within three hours of its opening, around 5,000 vehicles passed through the highway, as per reports. And the authorities are predicting that the number is likely to cross 50,000 in the next couple of days. Woah! ALSO, no toll will be charged from commuters on the expressway for the next 15 days, which is super cool!
And here’s another special thing about the highway - it was completed in roughly 500 days, which in itself is a record!
We’re all up and ready to go whizzing on this expressway ASAP!
