We visited the popular Clay Oven to take our taste buds on a flavourful ride. Based in Green Park, The Clay Oven boasts of tasteful interiors with great service. The restaurant has a comfortable and welcoming ambience and the soft music that was playing in the background was like a lullaby to our souls. Moreover, they deliver on their promise of a memorable fine-dining experience. Here’s what all we tried at this place!
1. Strawberry Daiquiri
A luncheon can’t begin without a good beverage. Our drink of choice was the Strawberry Daiquiri, and we have to say we fell in love with the drink. Made with freshly crushed strawberries, this refreshing drink was the perfect choice to clean our palates, readying it for the courses to follow.
The Daiquiri, made with a healthy dose of strawberries, a dash of lemon and a generous helping of our favourite Bacardi, was served cold and ready to be slurped on. The best part was that the flavours of the strawberries and lemon did not overpower the Bacardi, thus, making the drink a perfect blend of fruitiness and booze!
2. Drunken Chicken Salad
Next, we moved on to a light yet flavoursome salad, and we weren’t disappointed! Served with fresh cucumber and lettuce, the salad was a refreshing start to a wholesome meal. The chicken was cooked to perfection and dressed in a sweet & sour concoction and garnished with some sesame seeds on top. The dish was not only appealing to the eyes, but the freshness of the produce and the ideal balance of the flavours, sung through and lit up our palate!
3. Vegetarian Tandoori Platter
The subsequent item on our quest for foodie utopia, was the Tandoori Platter, which comprised an assortment of kebabs cooked on a charcoal grill. The variety of kebabs was simply amazing. With a total of five types, in Mushroom, Hariyali, Baked Potato, Classic Paneer Tikka and Broccoli variants, it is impossible to not hog all of it!
Our favourite part of the dish was that the paneer was perfectly charred and coated in a yummy spicy rub, making it absolutely scrumptious. The Broccoli Kebabs were an interesting twist, and their freshness, paired with the spices made for a healthy and tasty dish!
4. Butter Chicken
Butter chicken is like royalty in the world of meaty dishes, so, it was only given, that we try out this item of theirs! The dish was served with pickled onions on the side and we paired it up with their mouth-watering Garlic Naan. With a beautiful orange tinge to the curry and some cream drizzled on top, our serving made for the perfect eye-candy.
The crispy Garlic Naan with the tangy, flavoursome and aromatic Butter Chicken was our favourite part of the luncheon. All the flavours were complementary to each other and we just couldn’t stop eating!
5. Caramel Custard
For a sweet ending to our meal, we ordered the Caramel Custard, and it was everything we’d hoped for and more. The Custard was served with a generous helping of sweet caramel and a fresh mint leaf on the side. The dish was creamy and the caramel had the right note of bitterness to balance out the sugary custard. The dessert had a melt-in-your-mouth consistency and the subtle sweetness of it cleansed our palate. The Custard was the best way to end a great and fulfilling afternoon!
With impeccable service, great ambience and delicious food, we highly recommend The Clay Oven. Head over to this awesome restaurant for a true fine-dining experience and revel in the extraordinary variety of dishes from Indian and Chinese cuisines, cooked to perfection!
