Delhi14 Things We Wish Happen In Delhi THIS Year! #Welcome2022
The new year may be off to a ‘meh’ start with curfews and restrictions back again due to another surge in COVID, but that doesn’t stop us from hoping that things will get better soon. We’re sincerely hoping that COVID does NOT return another time and we can finally get back to our ‘old normal’ that we so easily took for granted back then! So, here’s a list of all the things that we wish will happen in 2022.
1. THE PANDEMIC ENDS!

We can’t stress this enough, and there’s nothing we wish for more. If there’s any power in the universe listening to us RN, please make the pandemic go away. COVID has already outstayed its welcome and NO, we don’t need to meet any new avatars or variants. COVID has already caused a lot of unforeseen misery in plenty of lives, and on behalf of all businesses, all families and legit everyone, we wish for it to go away.
2. DU Opens & We Can Attend All The Fun Fests!

The one thing that all college students are waiting eagerly for is for their colleges to reopen. When the 2020 batch got ripped off their farewell and last college trip, they thought that this was the worst that could happen. But well, all the batches after them got ripped off their whole damn college lives, and it’s as sad as it can get. We just wish for the colleges to open again and we can finally experience the cheery and buzzing fests again.
3. Finally, Take That Much-Anticipated Foreign Trip

Our wanderlust has been squashed under the feet of COVID and for SO long, we could not even think of taking a trip, let alone a foreign one. Well, guess what, we’re young only once and don’t want our 20s to be completely wasted by COVID. We need it to go away so we can finally go on that long due foreign trip. Where do you all wanna go first?
4. Going To A Crowded Sarojini Is Not A Social Crime

We miss the days when going to a crowded Sarojini market, or any other market for that matter, was not a social offense and just a normal day. We’ve been scared of crowds for a couple of years now and that makes us pause and think about the time when crowds were a perfectly normal part of our everyday lives! People who travel on the blue and yellow metro lines, y’all must know that too well. Can we ever get that life back?
5. We Get To Party After WFO

As soon as we start getting a little used to going out and travelling again for office, we’re forced to retreat back into our home workstations again. We were just getting back into the flow… may be beginning to think of having a party, and BAM! All this uncertainty and the ever-looming threat of the pandemic has anyway left most of us in a constant state of terror that we wish goes away with Omicron!
6. Music Concerts Finally Get A Go Ahead

Remember when singers & musicians like KK, Arijit Singh, Sanam, Nucleya and more came to Delhi regularly and we all grooved to their music, LIVE? Well, we’d give anything to get that feeling again and that we can finally have large scale music concerts again. And honestly, we thought we were getting there until Omicron came… Do you think that’ll be possible this year?
7. We Get To Be Active With Raahgiri Again!

Raahagiri used to be one of Delhi’s most quirky and awesome events. Waking up early to dance and get active with our fellow Delhiites? Woh vibe hi alag thi yaar! Even though all our exercises became nullified after that heavy breakfast we had, but still. We want Rahagiri to come back so badly.
8. We Celebrate All Festivals In Full Swing

Who knew 2019 would be the last time (at least for a couple of years) we’d celebrate our special festivals in full swing? Our hearts broke every time we heard that there would be a low scaled Durga Puja or Holi and Diwali celebrations, to prevent the spread of COVID. We just wanna be carefree as we celebrate our festivals, once more.
9. Foodie Fests Like Horn OK Please, Come Back!

It’s no secret that Horn OK Please used to be the LITest event of Saadi Delhi. It was a crazyyy few days of enjoying some of the best food, great music and a hell lotta more fun. Even thinking about all the amazing foodie joints that used to be there makes us excited. Delhi walas love a few things more than food, which is why we totally can’t wait for this foodie festival to return!
10. Eateries Can Remain Open Till Later Hours

We feel so bad every time restaurant and business owners have to shut down again, just as things get a little better. We hope that all this ends soon and restaurants and cafes can finally be open for even later hours, and we finally get to make that long-due night out plan a reality.
11. 24*7 Metro Accessibility Without Worrying About People Bumping Into You

Will there ever be a day when the metro runs 24*7? We surely wish there is! Just imagine how much safer it will get for girls to travel at night. Seriously, why haven’t we done this yet? All the non-drivers now don’t have to be left at the mercy of their friends who can drive for night outs. Awesome!
12. Dancing & Partying To The Fullest At Clubs Like Roar, Sutra, Privee

Woah, considering the times, it seems even saying this out loud is asking too much. But just imagine, going back to the crowded nightclubs and partying all night! What a dream, right? More importantly, do we even have enough social battery left to go out like that at all? What do you think?
13. Delhi Sees Less Pollution This Year

Every year, it’s like Delhi gets covered under a thick blanket of smog and makes us more miserable than we already are. The pollution has serious ill-effects and is no joking matter. We really hope that this year we’re able to take some significant steps in the direction of reducing pollution and that we can win the battle against it!
14. No More Masks!

Although COVID has probably opened our eyes to sounder hygiene practices for the better, masks have become legit an inseparable part of our lives. Do you think leaving them behind any time in the near future is possible?
Did we cover all of it? What do YOU wish would happen in 2022? Let us know in the comments below!
