After more than two months, since the Supreme Court had asked for the installation of anti-smog guns in the city to combat air pollution, 14 out of the 47 sites have installed the same. Here’s what you need to know about it.

Breathing Easy? | Anti-smog guns have been installed at 14 of the 47 massive construction projects in the city with the aim of reducing dust pollution. This installation comes to light after the Supreme Court ordered on the 13th of January that these devices must be installed on major projects in order to attain environmental clearances from the state or centre with an area of over 2000-sq. meters.

The anti-smog gun sprays nebulised water droplets at a high pressure which helps the dust to settle down. Delhi Pollution Control Board (DPCC) had written to five bodies namely the Public Works Department, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to install anti-smog guns.

But 33 sites besides NHAI and NBCC are yet to respond as they’re currently dealing with COVID-19 situation.

So you think this will impact the pollution in the city?!
