135 Shops & Eateries In Mehar Chand Mkt Including Nicobar & Fabindia Sealed Shut Today!

The crackdown against illegal construction in Delhi’s top markets is still going strong, and one more of our faves, Lodhi Colony’s crowned jewel Mehar Chand Market has been hit TODAY! 

Here’s What Happened | South Delhi Municipal Corporation has gone ahead and sealed all the stores with 1st floor and above in Mehar Chand Market which is basically 135 shops in total. 

Illegally built basements and top floors have all been sealed today, which includes outlets like Nicobar, Diva Spiced and Fabindia amongst many others!

Two banks on the premises — State Bank of India and Dena Bank — have been given a week to close their operations, failing which these too will be sealed! Unauthorised construction at basement and upper floors in 135 shops have been sealed but the ground floor stores have been spared since that ain’t illegal. 

Looks like Delhi’s open market scene is simply dying now! First CP then Def Col, Khan Market and now Mehar Chand Market!
