Being homesick after leaving your home is a common emotion but feeling Delhi-sick just gets us all in the feelz! Of course, we’ll wholeheartedly & dearly miss the carefree routine rides in the crowded metro, the chirpy stations and announcements, the lively cafes, the buzzing markets, and the wafting aroma from popular eateries. Today, dear readers, we present to you a list of places Delhiites will miss the most when they leave the city, and can’t wait to visit as soon as they get a chance!

1. Connaught Place

“Agla Station Rajiv Chowk Hai.” Of course, the busiest of all stations, Rajiv Chowk, or Connaught place has every right to be the first on our list. CP is the heart of Delhi, the meeting point of all gatherings, and bustling with cafes, eateries, markets - it has it all. Be it a quiet evening at Bangla Sahib, or a wild night in the lively cafes, CP is our go-to place. We miss the toothsome waffles from Wengers, the scrummy south Indian fare from Sarvana Bhavan, and the delish cold coffee & momos from Depauls. We absolutely cannot wait for another afternoon of street shopping from Janpath or watching a movie at PVR Rivoli.

2. Big Chill, Khan Market

Khan Market has some of our top favourite shops and cafes, the best of them being Big Chill. Home to countless memories, Big Chill at Khan Market is one of our happiest hangout spots. We also miss shopping for cute stationery, accessories, books, footwear, and apparel from the shops at Khan. Not to mention, the delish coffee from Perch!

3. Lodhi Garden, Lodhi Road

Sometimes, a walk in the Lodhi Gardens is all we need. Lodhi Gardens have been a super popular hangout spot for picnics, photoshoots, romantic dates, and fitness sessions alike. Always bustling with people, this hangout spot is located in the posh Lodhi Road colony. Other places we love to visit here are the India Habitat Centre (Pancakes at the All American Diner and Naanza at Eatopia are top recommendations) and the Lodhi Art District, both suitable for a fun photo shoot. Rent bicycles and wander through the scenic surroundings, for a super fun day, post-COVID.

4. Sector 18 Market, Noida

Sector 18 is one of the hippest places in Noida. Home to some of the best malls of NCR (DLF Mall Of India, Gardens Galleria, Great India Place and more), Sector 18 has been popular much before the entry of these malls. Known for the Atta Market, and home to some of the best street shopping and street food joints, we miss our Sector 18 rendezvous.

5. Select Citywalk, Saket

Select Citywalk was always abuzz with people. Do you remember the liveliness and the ambience around the time of Christmas? With pretty decorations and talented bands singing Christmas Carols, evenings at Select City marked the perfect end to another year. With the throbbing foodcourts with outdoor seating, DLF Promenade and Select Citywalk have always been our fave haunts for shopping and entertainment. We can’t wait for an IHOP date with our bestie at one of the best hangout spots in the city.

6. Billu’s Hut, NSP

Y’all will be lying if you say you don’t miss the creamy, loaded, and cheesy pasta from NSP. Staying and working from home and all we dream about is gorging down the steaming pasta from Billu’s Hut, which made the long travel to NSP worth it. And not just pasta, NSP is also our fave eating hub for grilled cheese sandwiches, overloaded chicken burger, chaap dishes, and Chinese fare. We can’t wait to visit NSP again!

7. Sunder Nursery, Lodhi Road

Nizamuddin is home to many of Delhi’s monuments including the famous Humayun’s Tomb. Located adjacent to this tomb is the Sunder Nursery, which is a heritage park with monuments and trees, and saplings of trees and flowers which we could purchase. We miss walking around the edge of the lake in this pretty green garden, enjoying the cool breeze and the fresh air owing to the greenery.

8. DLF Cyber Hub

Be it weekend lazy lunch afternoons at Olly’s or post-work chilling at Cyber Hub Social, DLF Cyber Hub is lit on all occasions, and we miss it greatly. We miss the shopping tours at Marks & Spencer and Uniqlo, the gourmet grocery runs at Modern Bazaar, salon days at Geetanjali, and splurging on The Body Shop & Chumbak. The perfect end to our shopping spree was lunch from Mamagoto and delightful desserts from Theos. (*BRB crying in a corner*)

9. Cafe Dori, Dhan Mill Compound

We sure do miss the winter afternoons at the Dhan Mill Compound. Getting all dolled up and going to enjoy a cup of piping hot chocolate with marshmallows, on our date is one of our most cherished memories. It is also a shopper’s paradise, with innumerable labels for snazzy apparels and accessories. The highlight, of course, is the wonderful cafe Dori, with its mouth-watering dishes and shopping options from Nappa Dori.

10. AMA Cafe, MKT

The breakfast pancakes from AMA Cafe in Majnu Ka Tila belong to the MAJOR missing category. This warm and cosy cafe tucked in MKT has a special place in our hearts, due to its immaculate vibes. We also miss the delectable momos and thupka we used to hog on when in MKT. Momos are Delhiwalas’ first love and what better & authentic place to have these than MKT?

11. Chandni Chowk

Chandni Chowk perfectly captures the duality of Delhi. With narrow lanes and tiny shops, age-old Chandni Chowk has a number of popular haunts in the city. Ideal for photo walks and wedding shopping, we miss brunch naans at Kake Di Hatti, washed down by a glass of lassi. We miss the serene Jama Masjid at the centre of it all, and we miss the little joints serving the most succulent of meat dishes and kebabs. What’s your favourite Chandni Chowk memory?

12. Champa Gali

Raise your hand if you miss the date nights at Champa Gali! Bustling with pretty cafes and shining lights in the evening, Champa Gali was the perfect aesthetic place to head over with bae, nosh onto yummy and cheesy food and get clicked for the gram. We miss the fab cafes in Champa Gali- Baari, Jugmug Thela, Social Street Cafe, & Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters. We can’t wait to enjoy our coffee and lounge in the cafes with our fave book.

13. 32nd Avenue

Last, but not least, we deeply miss our evenings at 32nd Avenue. No words are enough to describe this pretty place, where we used to enjoy great food, get clicked, and enjoy happy evenings with our best buds. Repeatedly, we stalk the IG handle of Melthouse India and crave the mouth-melting cookies and cheesy sandwiches. We miss the healthy food at Greenr, palatable dishes from Carnatic Cafe and the unmatched vibes and jazzy vibes of the Piano Man. We shall keep scrolling through our gallery for the pretty images clicked here, until we get a chance to click more. What about you?

Did you get through this list without tissues? What is the place that you miss the most in Delhi?
