13 Awesome Shows & Movies Online That Won The Filmfare OTT Awards This Year!

The OTT Filmfare Awards is a new set of awards that honour the artistic, creative and technical excellence of over-the-top online media releases in India, and focus on mainly Hindi-language OTT releases. The first edition of these awards was held last year on 19th December 2020 and considered series and movies released between the duration of 1st August 2019 to 31st July 2020. Honouring the best that OTT platforms have to offer, here are the fantastic releases that were nominated for each category and won! Check ‘em out and get to streaming if you haven’t already! 

1. Paatal Lok

Paatal Lok was one of the show stoppers for the awards, winning awards left and right. They won awards for Best Series, Best Director (Avinash Arun and Prosit Roy), Best Actor (Jaideep Ahlawat), Best Original Story and Best Screenplay. The plot follows a cop, Hathiram Chowdhary, who is assigned to investigate a high profile case but soon finds himself embroiled too deep in the dark and dangerous underworld scene. 2. The Family Man

The Family Man was another original series that gave a hefty competition to Paatal Lok. Sweeping up 5 Filmfare OTT awards for Best Dialogues and the Critics Choice Awards for Best Series, Best Director (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K), Best Actor Male (Manoj Bajpayee) and Best Actor Female (Priyamani), it surely won over the audience. Panchayat was another contender that won within the comedy series genre, bagging the awards for Best Comedy Series, Best Actor (Jitendra Kumar), Best Supporting Actor Male (Raghubir Yadav) and Best Supporting Actor Female (Neena Gupta) in a comedy series. The plot follows an engineering graduate who soon joins as a Panchayat secretary in a remote village called Phulera in UP due to a lack of a better job opportunity and the things he experiences there. 4 Aarya

The Hotstar series, Aarya, starring Sushmita Sen was selected for 8 nominations with Sushmita Sen bagging the award for the Best Female Actor. Based on a Dutch drama series called Penoza, Aarya follows a strong independent woman who gets revenge for her husband’s murder and protects her family, joins the mafia gang, and soon becomes a mafia queen! 5. Little Things Season 3

Little Things is a sweet romantic comedy series that follows a couple and the laid back, relaxed and realistic approach towards life, relationship troubles and career growth and struggles. 9. Sacred Games Season 2
