11 Kindsa People Like Nerds, Drama Queens & Party Animals You’re Most Likely To Come Across In DU

From heavy school bags to just a register & pen in hand, from a neatly ironed uniform to barely washed tees, from 100% attendance to bunking lectures throughout the day - a lot of changes take place in your life as you leave your school life behind and enter the gates of a college! And these changes bring with them a set of new characters that you’re most definitely gonna meet in Delhi University. So if you’re going to start classes this session, then start making notes fucchas! 

1. The Gang Of Nerds 

These kinds of people are the same everywhere and you’ve prolly known such people throughout your lives - the nerds! You’d always spot these guys with their noses hidden behind books or in libraries, even at the beginning of the year. They are usually the ones that spoil your idea of a ‘mass bunk’ because they yearn for those brownie points from the teachers. Pro tip - always maintain great camaraderie with them for they’re gonna be your saving grace at the end of the semester with their perfect notes! 

2. The Social-Media Butterfly

#OOTD, #CollegeDiaries, #CollegeBFF and the hashtags go on! These kinds of butterflies are easy to spot, you’d usually find them walking with their phones in their hand and their social media handles being updated with new selfies and pictures EVERY. SINGLE. DAY (if not every couple of hours). Their lively Insta feed will surely give you major #FOMO!  

3. The ‘Ab Kya Kare’ Clique

Pass class 12th, check. Get admission in DU, check. Now what? Pata nahi yaar! Delhi University is full of people who get admitted into various courses but have no idea what their aim is! They’re clueless about their subjects and sometimes, what they are even doing in college for that matter and are often heard repeating the refrain “Bas 3 saal nikalne hai yahan”! 

4. The Straight Out Of Vogue Fashionistas

Do we really need to tell you more about them?! Their sole purpose of coming to college is to doll up everyday as if the university lanes are their runway and they’re putting up a show for the rest of the shabbily dressed (as compared to them) people. But don’t trust the big, flashy brand names that they throw your way, ‘cause sab Sarojini ka maal hai! 

5. The Special Appearance Guests   

There are students with good attendance and then there are some who even their classmates can’t recognise. You won’t see them throughout the semester and then, as soon as your internals or sem-end exam dates are announced, these people people appear out of thin air! They can then be seen begging for notes from their fellow classmates and running behind the professors for some ‘extra marks’ and extensions for submitting assignments!  

6. The ‘Party Abhi Baaki Hai’ Animals

College life means partying and clubbing and we all have been doing that, BUT this species of DU students take the term ‘party animal’ to a whole new level! Endless house jamborees, pub hopping in all the major party places in Delhi and then coming to college the next day with a hangover and red-shot eyes! Their Snapchat stories and Instagram feeds will make you pity your own life.

7. The Sports Quota Batch 

This is the batch of students who make it to the university thanks to their long list of certificates and medals in various sports. You’d hardly ever find these guys in class as their college life in confined to the field and attendance, assignments and internals exams are foreign subjects they try to avoid!

8. The Drama Queens

College life in DU is basically years of complete drama, where most of the spectacle is contributed by the likes of this species AKA the ‘Drama Queens’! These people are attention mongers, who’d laugh loudly, scream and even fight to be noticed. Yeah, we feel the aversion you all have for them but hey, they do add some spice in our lives, right?

9. The Pack Of Hostellers

Unkempt hair, wrinkled clothes, 2-day old socks and not a care in the world - that’s a typical hosteller for you! They are the most relaxed peeps in the college who’d have every sort of jugaads for all your problems. They can sleep through the lectures without being caught and even have copies of all the notes you might need in your exams. Basically, these are the kind of people you should always be friends with!   

10. The Stoner Squad

You come to college, all goodie two shoes and then, somewhere in between semesters, you’re introduced to a new high in life and you form what we call the ‘Stoner Squad’! These people are always happy and always high with the all kinds of maal and cream they’ve handily brought from from their last trip to Himachal. So, if you’re one of these, then happy puffing!

11. The Pyaar Ke Panchis

We aren’t against love. BUT, we’re not a huge fan of couples indulging in PDA and reminding us of our forever single status! These ‘Pyaar Ke Panchis’ are found all over the university, walking around hand in hand and even lying on the college lawns, all gooey eyed and making the rest of us, a tad bit uncomfortable.
