Of course, while we love the original versions too, we are still thankful to the talented South Indian brains for giving us these hits! 1. Jersey

This sports drama starring Shahid Kapoor is a remake of the 2019 Telugu film of the same name, Jersey, and is all set to release on 5th November this year, that is, on Diwali! The film is about the late success of a 36-year-old cricketer, who aims to play for the Indian team. A movie about cricket and starring Shahid - damn, we’re all in!

2. Mumbaikar

Good news for the Vikrant Massey fanbase! A remake of the 2017 Tamil film, ‘Maanagaram’ is going to be released this year, titled Mumbaikar and starring none other than our beloved Vikrant Massey. Maanagaram was an edge of the seat, city-based thriller about 4 youngsters whose lives become entangled upon arriving in a big city. Sounds interesting, right? We absolutely cannot wait to see Vikrant in this new avatar!

3. Tadap

Those who like to keep up with their South Indian movies would have definitely heard about the 2018 Telugu film, RX 100. Well, Bollywood is all set to release its remake, titled ‘Tadap’ on September 24! If all goes well, the film shall see a theatrical release. Featuring debutant Ahan Shetty, son of Sunil Shetty, alongside Tara Sutaria, the love saga is dark and intriguing! Are you excited?

4. Good Luck Jerry

Any black comedy fans out there? Based on the Tamil film Kolamavu Kokila, Janhvi Kapoor’s Good Luck Jerry is gonna be releasing this year. This black comedy crime film is about a young woman who gets herself involved in a drug ring to earn some quick cash. Yikes! Although we see Jahnvi smiling from ear to ear in her first look of the film, we GOTTA see how that turns out!

5. Vikram Vedha

Let us just say 2 names - Hrithik Roshan & Saif Ali Khan. Yep, dear readers, these two are all set to get together for the first time, and we cannot wait to see them on the big screen, in the remake of the hit Tamil film Vikram Vedha, which originally starred heartthrob R Madhavan & Vijay Sethupati. That seems hard to top! Although this film shall put us to a long wait, till 30th September 2022, y’all should keep a lookout!

6. Naandhi

Naandhi is a recent Telugu film that was released this February. Ajay Devgn along with Dil Raju has already acquired the rights for its remake, for he believes this awesome story needs a pan Indian audience! The film is a courtroom drama about a wrongly accused undertrial prisoner who’s in for murder. The film was a critical as well as a commercial success and we can’t wait to watch the remake too!

7. HIT

Here’s something that will get you super pumped. Rajkummar Rao in a cop thriller - Woah! A remake of the Telugu film HIT: The First Case, this film that will star Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra is in the works, and we couldn’t be more excited. Rajkummar Rao is a fine actor, and we cannot wait to see him nail the role of a cop with PTSD who’s tracing a missing woman. Although no official release date is out yet, we hope it’s super-duper soon!

8. Anniyan

Superstar Ranveer Singh is all set to star in the Bollywood remake of the 2005 Tamil blockbuster Anniyan. The film is yet to be named, but shall hopefully be released in mid-2022. The film is about an average everyday man who wishes to transform the system who develops multiple personality disorder! Originally starring Vikram, the film was then also dubbed in Hindi as Aparichit. The plot screams intriguing and we cannot wait to see Ranveer’s take on the character, given how he has already proven his stellar acting skills!

9. Kaithi

When this film was announced in 2020, set to be released in Feb 2021, Ajay Devgn might just soon be betrothed the king of South remakes, for this would have been his 10th South Indian remake! Although COVID-19 has delayed the release of this film, the film is a remake of the 2019 Tamil language Kaithi, about an ex-convict who longs to meet his daughter for the first time after leaving prison, but his plan gets interrupted when an inspector conducts a drug raid. Well, that sounds like an emotional journey, and we’re all in!
