Dil Chahta Hai was when Farhan Akhtar made his directorial debut and it’s definitely an ode to his cinematic and directorial prowess. This movie that we all can watch again and again no matter what the time, follows three college friends on their coming-of-age journey as they manoeuvre through their friendship, relationships and falling outs. It was also the beginning of all our desires to go on a road trip to Goa with our friends, wasn’t it? Full of nostalgia, we can’t ever miss a rewatching of this one!

2. Sholay

Sholay is a definition of a classic watch and follows 2 ex-convicts (Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan) who are hired by ‘Thakur’ an ex-policemen to help him capture Gabbar Singh, the famously notorious dacoit who has a history with the Thakur and loves creating chaos. It also gave us the iconic dialogues - “Kitne Aadmi The” and “Yeh Haath Humko Dede Thakur!”. We can all recite the dialogues from the back of our hands by now, considering the number of times we’ve watched this timeless piece, no?!

3. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

ZNMD is another gem directed by Zoya Akhtar and satisfies all our fantasies of going on a fun yet slightly crazy trip with friends. Following Kabir, Imran and Arjun who go on a bachelor trip to Spain, the trip soon turns into a journey of mending fences with friends, overcoming personal fears, experiencing new emotions, falling in love and just overall having a pretty epic time. Jab We Met is truly a fun flick to watch when you’re sad or in need of a pick me up just for its highly entertaining value. This rom-com tells the story of Aaditya who is a depressed business tycoon and boards a train aimlessly to escape. Here he meets the excited Geet, who loves talking and gets pulled into her crazy life. He slowly starts to enjoy life and as for how it ends, you need to watch it to know!

Chak De! India is one movie that always got our adrenaline pumping and ensured that after every watch our feeling of love for the country always seemed to skyrocket. Kabir Khan, a former Indian hockey player, who gets falsely accused of betraying his country, now has a mission to train the country’s women’s hockey team to prove that he is loyal to his country. A truly gripping watch, we’ve all watched a gazillion times, haven’t we?

6. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

K3G is another cult classic that always hits us in the feels and gave us some iconic songs that we can still listen to on repeat. The plot revolves around Rahul, the adopted older son of a rich businessman who chooses to marry his love from a middle-class family and becomes estranged from his family. We then see his younger brother who is hell-bent on uniting the family and sets out to find him. This movie has a certain charm of its own and we can’t help but watch it every time it plays on the TV!

7. 3 Idiots
