The Largest High Altitude Zoo In India - Head To Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park
The largest high altitude zoo in India, the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is the one place where you’ll find animals living in their natural habitat! The Darjeeling Zoo is home to a lot of endangered species as well as high altitude Himalayan animals that can rarely be seen elsewhere.
It was dedicated by Indira Gandhi in memory of the governor of West Bengal and daughter of Sarojini Naidu, Padmaja Naidu.
Wondering what makes the Darjeeling Zoo stand out? Well, unlike the caged animals that you spot in regular zoos, here you won’t find animals even behind bars, forget cages!
You can spot a whole lot of animals from Tibetan Wolves to Red Pandas, Snow Leopards to Siberian Tigers, all existing in a semi natural habitat. Isn’t that amazing?!
Having received the international award for ‘The Earth Heroes’ by the British Government in 2014 for doing a superb job of conserving the Himalayan animals and plantations, the Darjeeling Zoo is now amongst the best zoos in the world! It also offers an animal adoption program where you can pay for the care of an animal of your choice and support the conservation of it. How awesome is that?!
So nature lover, what are you waiting for? Head straight into the wild right away!
