Check Out The Massive Limestone Caves Of Baratang Island That Are Ever Evolving
Baratang Island's a small island belonging to the North & Middle administrative district and is approximately 150 kms from the capital of Port Blair. The distance is traversed through a water body and the island is full of geographical marvels, such as the limestone caves, that can be covered in a day.
Reach the site after a short but adrenaline filled speedboat ride, after a trek of a few kilometers. Yes, the terrain is tricky, the island being marshy and hydrous but but all of it is totally worth the sight! The mangroves are a major spot you cannot afford to miss. The helectites and stalagmites take up the whole caves and the way it has maneuvered its formation around the swamp is quite a spectacle!
You'll also find a few stalls serving lemonade, coconut water and snacks for your replenishment and with guidance from the locals, it would be a smooth journey to the site.
So add this to your Andaman itinerary right away!
