Disclaimer: Bearing in mind the current health crisis befalling the city and the world at large, we're tweaking our content policy and recommendations. Stay positive, keep hygiene levels up and don't fall prey to panic and misinformation.

Baratang Island's a small island belonging to the North & Middle administrative district and is approximately 150 kms from the capital of Port Blair. The distance is traversed through a water body and the island is full of geographical marvels, such as the limestone caves, that can be covered in a day.

Reach the site after a short but adrenaline filled speedboat ride, after a trek of a few kilometers. Yes, the terrain is tricky, the island being marshy and hydrous but but all of it is totally worth the sight! The mangroves are a major spot you cannot afford to miss. The helectites and stalagmites take up the whole caves and the way it has maneuvered its formation around the swamp is quite a spectacle!

You'll also find a few stalls serving lemonade, coconut water and snacks for your replenishment and with guidance from the locals, it would be a smooth journey to the site.

So add this to your Andaman itinerary right away!
