1. Walk On The Lakshman Jhula Suspension

The saga of Lakshman Ji building a jute bridge to cross the Ganga here is still believed to be true and is one of the most popular landmarks of Rishikesh. Giving Rishikesh the identity which it has today worldwide, the iron bridge was built in the 1930's. Being the focal point of temples, shops, cafes, ashrams, the long bridge offers serene views of the whole city which makes it a must visit! 

2. Experience The Thrill Of River Rafting

River Rafting on the Ganges is just the perfect sport to take on when in Rishikesh as you get to experience some thrilling rapids! There are a whole lot of operators to organise this activity for you. Do bear in mind that the best time to visit Rishikesh for River Rafting is from late September-October to mid November.

3. Witness The Mesmerising Ganga Aarti 

If you're in Rishikesh then you MUST attend the Ganga Aarti at any one of its ghats. With the chanting of bhajans and the ringing bells, the holy Ganges feels like an abode outside the worldly pleasures. This unmissable event in Rishikesh can be seen from the famous Triveni Ghat or Parmarth Niketan Ashram Ghat.

4. Visit The Iconic Ram Jhula 

Primitively just a hanging ropeway, the Ram Jhula was modified and made into an iron suspension in the 1980's. There are markets on both side of Ganges, along with some major attractions such as Sivananda Ashram, Yoga Niketan, Parmarth Niketan, Beatles Ashram among others. Dedicated to “Lord Rama”, it remains open on all days. Do carry your camera along!

8. Have Fun At The Stellar Neer Garh Waterfall

The 2-tier fall situated 8 kms from the Lakshman Jhula is a cascading beauty to visit in Rishikesh. The waterfall has a two-faced stream gushing down from the mighty hillock proving advantageous for rappelling and trekking. You can take a dip in its cold water or simply relax by the pool.

9. Spend Time Inside Vashishta Gufa

 

Claimed to be once inhabited by Sage Vashishta and his wife, this place has a mystique element attached to it. It is believed that the sage meditated here and found nirvana.  The silence and stillness here makes it a devotional and perfect place for deep meditation. With no mobile network, it's a perfect place to connect with yourself.

10. Pay Homage To Shivji At Neelkanth Mahadev Temple

The temple is dedicated to the Neel Kanth Bhagwan, ShivJi. The high rise temple is devoted to the lord with its outside walls depicting the famous scenes of the narration and inner walls crafted with rituals and sculptures. The colourful exteriors and the soulful interiors will bring vibrancy to your mundane life and you'll witness the preoccupations slipping away and peace sweeping in.
