I would suggest you to read the Alchemist by Paul Coelho, it's a simple read but with hidden meanings, it would be easy for you to crack those. Then after that some reads are A train to Pakistan by Khushwant Singh, Malgudi days by R.K Narayan, the palace of illusions by Chitra Banerjee, these are some books by renowned Indian authors which are good to start.
