6 Most Haunted Places In Pune Where Darna Zaroori Hai!

Are you the kind whose pulse races at the slightest mention of something spooky or haunted, or are you the one who makes a u-turn at the mere utterance of the word ‘ghost’?  Irrespective of which label you choose for yourself, this spooky season we’ve listed out some of the most pant-droppingly eerie places in Pune you can visit (or not)! So, proceed with caution! *wink*

1. Sinhagad Fort

Considered to be a popular picnic spot, some 30 km from Pune, Sinhagad Fort is perched atop a hill that just screams haunted. You can have your pick of the ghost you want to encounter; from a bus full of ghostly school children that fell over the cliff near the fort, the spirits of hundreds of Maratha warriors that died fighting wars at the fort, or a man clad in white that jumps from the cliffs, much to the horror of the onlookers. The fort is must-visit for those that seek a bit of hair-raising thrill!

2. The Shaniwarwada Fort

The Shaniwarwada Fort situated in the heart of the Pune city is one of the most visited places by Punekars, more so after the release of the movie Bajirao Mastani that depicts the fort. It’s believed that the ghost of the prince Narayan Rao Peshwa still haunts the corridors after being hacked to death in the very same place. Moreover, most of the fort was said to have been burnt down in a week-long fire, claiming the lives of several people who lived in the fort. It is believed that their spirits still roam the fort and therefore no one enters it post 5:30 PM.

3. Victory Theatre

The Century-old Victory Theater was initially built during the British Raj as a playhouse before getting converted into a theatre. Recently, in addition to serving as an exceptional cinematic experience to the city dwellers, it is also the cause of unimaginable horror. Everyone, from the theatre staff to the moviegoers, has complained of unnatural happenings in the theatre. Incidents like hearing strange, high-pitched giggling and screams during odd hours of the day and night and the noises of the seats being banged are said to be a common occurrence. So, if you want to avoid watching horror with your comedy film, I would advise you to skip this place at night!

4. The Haunted House, M G Road

This Is A Representative Image

The haunted house in MG Road is a place that makes it hard to walk past without shivers running up the spine. With broken furniture ad cobwebs all over, this house has allegedly been left to ruins since the murder of a young girl shook the family that resided here. Passersby have reported hearing screams of a little girl, as well as, soft whisperings that only get louder with each second spent in its vicinity. If you’re smart, I’d tell you to run for your life!

5. Symbiosis Road, Viman Nagar

The Symbiosis Road, not very far from the airport, and next to the Symbiosis University campus is witness to unexplained creepy paranormal activities during the nights. Unexplained sightings of a spirit clad in white that creeps up on you of thin air, as well as pedestrians falling under random fainting spells, have left the residents that live around the area shook. But who knows if it’s just the mischievous students playing a prank or actual paranormal activity! *hehe*

6. Pune Cantonment

The Pune Cantonment also referred to as Camp, is a lush green and scenic area during the day time, but a haunt for the spirits of the restless warriors during the night. Those who travel through the area have recounted that the air suddenly feels cold and heavy as they pass through and many have claimed to have been choked by an invisible apparition. In case you feel like taking a midnight stroll through the area, count us out!

Those bravehearts who dare to venture out and visit this place, more power to you!
